“I’ll Not Resign, I’ve Achieved My Objective Set For The Elections” – Chairman Wontumi Replies Accusers

Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, has shot back at those calling for his resignation saying, “I have achieved my objective set for the Election 2020.”

Chairman Wontumi who was reacting to agitations for his resignation being spearheaded by some media practitioners rebuffed the spree of condemnations emphasizing that he launched an election campaign plan that fetched the NPP a whooping 1.8 million valid votes which helped the party to remain in power, “so in a sense I have achieved my objective. “

“When I was elected as the Ashanti Regional Party Chairman, my immediate goal was to bring the NPP to power because we were then in opposition. Fortunately, my tenure has coincided with the NPP’s ability to win power and to retain it which is no mean achievement.” He explained.

According to Chairman Wontumi who was engaged in a chat with Oheneba Nana Asiedu on Wontumi TV/Platforms on Tuesdays, “the achievements of the party in the total vote count in the 2020 elections outcome is historic.”

“We provided a total of 1.2 million votes in Ashanti which gave a big boost to my party’s total votes cast in our favour to be able to stay in power.” He said.

The NDC only managed to snatch New Edubiase from us, the remaining three constituencies are already their traditional seats so retaining them is no big deal.” He stated.

Chairman Wontumi emphasized that the NDC considers Ashanti Region as their second stronghold after the Volta Region, “so our dominance should always be viewed against the background of their influence in the Region.”

Chairman Wontumi who became emotional when he recounted the number of times he had defended the ruling party’s interest recalled how he spent about 17 million Ghana Cedis on those who were supported with stipends through a special phone-in programme on his Wontumi TV/ Radio platforms.
