If We Elect Bawumia, NDC Can’t Tag NPP As An Akan Party In The Zongos- Nana Akomea

Nana Akomea Asks: "Is Bawumia The Disgrace To The North?"

The Managing Director of the State Transport Corporation (STC), Nana Akomea, has stated that never can the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) tag the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as an Akan party should vice President Bawumia be elected as flagbearer.

In an interview on the Wontumi Morning Show, Nana Akomea touted the achievements of Bawumia noting that his association with the NPP has broken the tribal comments the NDC used to say within the Zongo communities.

“Out of all of the contestants, it is only Bawumia that is from the North. NPP has been tagged as an Akan party and the (NDC) keep hurting the NPP with tribal comment. If Bawumia is elected, they can’t state that in the Zongos”, Nana Akomea said.

From 1992 to date, Nana Akomea explains that both the NPP and NDC have specific regions they derive majority of their votes from.

The Ashanti region and Eastern region have served as a bedrock for the NPP whilst Volta region, North region and Zongos have given their votes to the NDC.

He however stated that Bawumia’s factor has reduced the NDC’s influence in the Northern region of Ghana.

“Today if you look at the original Northern region, the NDC had 27 seats and NPP had 4. From the time Bawumia came into the picture, NPP has 16 seats and NDC has 15 seats. If you make such a person the presidential candidate, he will be able to break the 8 for us”, he strongly argued.
