The Bono Regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party, Kwame Baffoe, is warning appointees serving under President Akufo-Addo to resist the temptation of using military officers as their personal security guards.
He noted that the brother of former President John Mahama, Ibrahim Mahama who was not even a government appointee, abused state power by converting his private residence into a military barracks.
Mr. Baffoe popularly known as Abronye noted that “between 2013 and 2016, Ibrahim Mahama converted his residence at Kanda into a military barracks…it wasn’t a good practice and I condemned it. But some of our people are also doing the same today that we are in power.”
Abronye further stated on the Nsempa Fie show on Wontumi TV that the practice of using military officers as guards does not sit well with many Ghanaians and doing so might make the Akufo-Addo led government unpopular.
He maintains that aside from the President, National Security, Interior and Defense Ministers, no other appointee should be seen moving around with military officers as their escorts unless for a good reason.
