If Akufo-Addo Calls For Nat’l Economic Dialogue, What Sensible Thing Can John Mahama Conjure? Chairman Wontumi

The Ashanti Regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is wondering the sensible contribution former President John Mahama can produce should President Akufo-Addo call for national economic dialogue.

Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi believes Mr. Mahama’s comments were only meant to remind Ghanaians about how his administration used such dialogues to create “dumsor” and end up stealing from the coffers of the state.

In an interview with Wontumionline.com, Chairman Wontumi insisted that the current economic happenings in Ghana are far different from what Mr. Mahama dealt with when he was President.

Unlike the government of President Akufo-Addo which is trying to solve economic hardships generated from COVID-19, Russia-Ukraine war and the tension escalating between China and Taiwan, Mr. Mahama was only confronted with ‘dumsor’- which he couldn’t even solve.

“With the handling of ‘dumsor’ and awarding of senseless judgement debts to cronies and family members, what sensible thing can come from John Mahama should President Akufo-Addo heed to his advice and call for a national economic dialogue?” Chairman Wontumi wondered.

According to Mr. Mahama when he encountered troubles with the economy when he was President, he called a dialogue at Senchi.

“That is why I called for a national dialogue. I said bring the best brains together. I have been president before, it served me well. I called the Senchi Forum, it didn’t reduce my stature as President.”

But Chairman responded that “Ghana’s situation now, isn’t like what we experienced under John Mahama. Today we have COVID-19, Russia and Ukraine war which are all global issues affecting every country. We ought to even pray that China and Taiwan don’t engage in war too.”
