“I Will Poison Myself If NDC Comes To Power”- Obiri Boahen Threatens
Deputy General Secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Lawyer Obiri Boahen, has threatened to kill himself should the NDC recapture power.
According to Lawyer Boahen, if the NDC win power in December, he cannot bear the suffering and hardship they will impose on the country so the best thing to do is to poison himself.
The NPP Deputy General Secretary who was speaking on the Kumasi-based Wontumi Radio and TV Morning Show on early Tuesday, explained that, as a young boy in 1969, he had the opportunity to witness the ‘operation feed yourself’ programme by the Gen. Acheampong regime as well as experiencing Dr. Busia’s rural development policies which have helped him to appraise himself of what can be considered good policies by past governments develop the country.
“You can ask any member of the Abudu faction in Tamale the hardship went through during the John Mahama era and his NDC regime and you’d be alarmed at what he would l tell you..” He told Oheneba Nana Asiedu, host of the programme
He however, called on the NPP members and supporters to eschew arrogance and complacency as the election draws nigh.
According to him, what made the party lose power in 2008 was arrogance and complacency.
“I was matured in 2008 so I know what led to our defeat” He noted
The firebrand NPP member challenged his compatriots to assume that they are not in power and campaign like a wounded lion.”
Lawyer Obiri Boahen urged the Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman, Chairman Wontumi to encourage the party members to organize their campaign activities more vigorously as if their beloved party is in the opposition as they did in 2016 to help the party stay in power.
