‘I Will Never Return To My Matrimonial Home’ – Bishop Obinim Declares

The founder of the International God’s Way Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim, has vowed never to return to his matrimonial home again, despite an appeal from one of his children urging him to come back and restore order in the household.

Addressing his congregation, Bishop Obinim disclosed that days after moving out of his matrimonial home, he received a voice note from one of his sons, Gifted, who complained about the conduct of his brother, Promise.

The preacher played the voice note to members of his church during a service. In the recording, Gifted alleged that Promise had taken a G-Wagon vehicle, which Bishop Obinim had left behind for the family’s use, out in the middle of the night and subsequently crashed it.

Gifted then pleaded with his father to return home and discipline his brother, claiming that neither he nor their mother, gospel singer Florence Obinim, was able to control him.

“Daddy, please, I’m your son. You told me not to tell you anything about Promise but, look, I was asleep and Promise went to take the car and went out in the night and crashed it. Daddy, please do something about it because I can’t do anything. Please come back home; you need to control Promise, please,” Gifted was heard saying in the voice note played by Bishop Obinim.

Following the playback of the message, Bishop Obinim asked members of his congregation whether they believed he should return home to his family.

One church member, however, expressed concern, stating that she feared members of Bishop Obinim’s family could plot against him and potentially cause him harm if he returned to the house.

Bishop Obinim also dismissed suggestions from other church members that he should go back home, stressing that he had no intention of returning. He further stated that not even his parents could convince him to return to his matrimonial home.

“They already said I’ve left home, and I confirm it’s true. I have left. I wouldn’t go back, and not even my parents, whom I respect deeply, can ask me to return and expect me to obey. My life matters to me,” Obinim said.

The development comes amid a highly publicised marital dispute involving Bishop Obinim and his wife, Florence Obinim, which has dominated headlines in recent weeks.

The controversy began after the preacher alleged that his wife had changed following her association with certain individuals whom he disapproved of.

Days later, Bishop Obinim disclosed that he had moved out of the family home and acquired a luxurious mansion at Trasacco to live in while dealing with the marital challenges.

Florence Obinim subsequently responded by stating that if her husband wished to divorce her, he was free to do so.

The latest revelation by Bishop Obinim suggests that despite appeals from one of his children to return home, he remains firm in his decision to stay away from the family residence.
