I Don’t Belong To Any Record Label – J.Derobie Reveals

Ghanaian award-winning singer J.Derobie has revealed that he is currently not under any music record label.

During an interview with Sammy Flex on CTV’s Class Showbiz, J.Derobie disclosed that although he is currently not working under any music label, he has a deal with other brands like emPawa.

“I’m not signed under any label. But I have a distribution deal with emPawa (Africa), he however added, “It’s about to end though”.

Explaining his business with emPawa, J.Derobie stated that his deal with Nigerian music star Mr. Eazi was for distribution and not a music label deal.

Explaining that it was rather a distribution deal, he noted that: “Mr. Eazi is well-versed in the music business,” but “at the time [they met], that was the kind of deal that I was able to get.”

“We’ve worked all this while even though it’s coming to an end,” he stressed.

“Even this album, I dropped it with emPawa,” he highlighted. “It’s also part of the deal.”

Speaking on his experience working with emPawa, he said: “It’s been great and thoughtful.”

“I’ve learned a lot,” he said again and indicated that he is open to renewing the distribution deal upon expiry if only after careful examination, “which is due diligence, I’m content that it’s a good deal. We’ll sign and then we move on.”

From all that he has learned since 2019, he explained that he will want some changes to the current deal.

“It’s not about the money,” he said matter-of-factly.
