I am not leading Chairman Wontumi to the slaughterhouse; don’t speak out of ignorance- Lawyer Andy Appiah

The lead counsel for Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, Lawyer Andy Appiah Kubi, has strongly defended his handling of the case involving the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), stating that critics are speaking out of ignorance.

‎”I am not leading Chairman Wontumi to the slaughterhouse,” he told Kwaku Dawuro on Movement In The Morning show on Movement TV

“I do not agree with those criticizing me for the way I am handling this case. There is a vast difference between being inside the courtroom and commenting from outside. Those criticizing my work do not fully understand the legal processes involved.”

‎According to him, his role as a lawyer is strictly professional and not influenced by political considerations.

‎”I do not mix politics with my work as a lawyer. I have been engaged to defend Chairman Wontumi, and I am doing the best I can within the framework of the law,” he stated.

‎”Even though Chairman Wontumi is a political figure, the matter before the court should not be viewed purely through a political lens”.

He stressed that this case is not about politics. It is a high-profile legal matter, and it must be treated as such. Hence, his duty is to provide the best legal representation possible, and that is exactly what he is doing.
