“How Can Someone Work 14 Months and Be Paid for One?” — Agyeman Questions Mahama

A member of the NPP communications team, Mr. Agyeman has strongly criticized John Dramani Mahama over what he describes as the government’s failure to pay teachers’ salaries and allowances, saying the situation has left many Ghanaians frustrated and disappointed.

Speaking on the Wontumi Morning Show with host Kweku Kyeremanteng Nkansah, Mr. Agyeman referenced a viral video circulating in Ghana in which a female teacher was seen carrying her child on her back while crying and demanding her unpaid salary from the government. According to him, the video reflects the hardship many teachers are currently facing.

“It is very sad that under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama, teachers are struggling to cater for themselves because the government has refused to pay them, yet they are the ones teaching our children,” he said.

Mr. Agyeman further appealed to the President in Akan, saying, “Sɛ yede gya wo a na yɛde asoa wo,” to emphasize the trust Ghanaians placed in him.

He questioned how a teacher could work for 14 months and receive payment for only one month, describing the situation as deeply unfortunate.

“How can someone work for 14 months and be paid for only one month? This is unacceptable and deeply worrying,” he added.

Mr. Agyeman also expressed concern about broader economic challenges, claiming that cocoa farmers have not received the prices they were promised and that rice farmers in the Northern Region are struggling to find buyers for their produce.

He stressed that the hardship cuts across political lines and affects all citizens, regardless of party affiliation.

“This is not about NPP or NDC. The suffering in Ghana is too much, and the government has disappointed everyone,” he stated.

He concluded by accusing President Mahama of failing to live up to his campaign promises, noting that many citizens now feel let down.

“Ghanaians trusted him with their mandate, but today, many feel that trust has been betrayed,” he concluded.
