Hon. Gifty Twum Ampofo Recaptures Seat At Abuakwa North Constituency
Although she is reserved, she is a great strategist and an achiever with a proven track record of successfully transforming ordinary teams into world-class teams and an innovator who is not afraid to take initiative.She is currently the Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North constituency in the Eastern Region of Ghana and also the deputy Minister for Education.
Scores of meaningful Ghanaians home and abroad have expressed appreciable concerns over the current appreciable increase of women in Ghana’s Parliament , to them it’s a step to achieving gender balance in parliament which has always been dominated by men.
She has for the second time won the Abuakwa North Constituency elections to go to parliament for the second time with an unimaginable margin against her opponents in the December 7 elections.
Born in Kukurantumi on June 11, 1967, Hon. Gifty Twum is an accomplished politician, and an educationist with over 20 years teaching and school management expertise.She is known very well by many by her calm and well composed nature.
Hon. Gifty Twum Ampofo was the deputy Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection for a period of close to 2 years into the administration of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and currently the deputy Minister of Education. She was amongs the Ministers of state who were reshuffled.
She graduated from University of Cape Coast with a BSc. in Biology in 1997.She also obtained a B.SC. Hons Degree from the University of Ghana as well as obtaining an MBA in Strategic Management.
In 2015, she contested and won the NPP parliamentary seat for the Abuakwa North Constituency in the Eastern region of Ghana and same in 2020.
