Ghana Premier League giants Accra Hearts of Oak, have requested that the Ghana Football Association change the date of their game against Legon Cities, which comes a few days before the game against Kumasi Asante Kotoko.
Hearts believe the schedule does not favour the club and thus want it altered.
The Phobians face Legon Cities on Thursday, 24th June at the Accra Sports Stadium, a day after rivals Kotoko take on Karela United in Obuasi.
With the Super 2 clash taking place on Sunday, 27th June in Accra, Hearts of Oak are concerned their rivals will have an advantage over them having had a day more to prepare for the encounter.
The club said in a statement:
“With Kotoko playing on Wednesday afternoon, they will have 72-hour rest period ahead of our clash whilst we have 42-hour rest period if we should play on Thursday.“This would generate unnecessary reaction from our supporters and this has the tendencies of taking the shine away from the match.”
With five matches to go, Hearts and Kotoko are level on points on the Ghana Premier League log with 53 points with the Phobians edging ahead of goal difference.
Many believe the next few games, particularly the Super 2 clash will determine the winner of the 2020/2021 campaign.
