Head Of Local Gov’t Service Not Astound By More Persons Filed For MMDCEs Positions
Head of Local Government Service, Dr. Nana Ato Arthur, says he is not surprised about the chunk of persons who have applied to contest the Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) positions.
He noted that, the over 1,300 people who have applied for the 216 MMDCE vacancies indicate that, the system is well structured and opened.
Dr. Arthur told Oheneba Nana Asiedu on Wontumi Morning Show on Wednesday that, he is happy the applicants were directed to file for the position at the various Regional Ministers offices.
“I am so happy the applications were directed to the Regional Ministers and they are chairing the Vetting Committee. It is a kind of innovation,” he said.
The Head of the Local Government Service affirmed that the competition is transparent and that nobody can lodge a complain.
He urged President Akufo-Addo to appoint a visionary leader who can work to justify his appointment.
“If you are appointed as DCE or MCE, you work for the area not a political party,” he stressed.
Dr. Ato Arthur advised the applicants to count themselves among the winning team if they don’t get the nod.
