‘He controls tempo’ – Vidal picks best player between Casemiro, Busquets

Former Barcelona midfielder, Arturo Vidal, has picked Inter Miami’s Sergio Busquets ahead of Manchester United’s Casemiro as the best holding midfielder in the world.

Both Busquets and Casemiro are regarded as two of the best holding midfielders of the last decade.

The pair have enjoyed successful careers at El Clasico rivals Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Busquets made 722 appearances for Barcelona across different competitions, scoring 18 goals and providing 12 assists, while Casemiro made 336 appearances for Real Madrid, scoring 31 goals and providing 29 assists.

When asked which of the two iconic midfielders he prefers, Vidal said (via Barca Universal):

“In all teams, the pivot is always the one who controls the tempo, the one with the most technique, the one who moves the ball.

“Casemiro doesn’t do any of that, which is why I prefer Busquets.”
