Greater Accra Tops 2021 Domestic Violence Cases
The caretaker Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection Hon. Cecilia Abena Dapaah has revealed that the Greater Accra Region leads this year’s domestic violence cases.
According to Hon. Abena Dapaah, the Bono Region and Western North Regions chalked the 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.
She was speaking with Oheneba Nana Asiedu on Wontumi TV Morning Show.
The Caretaker for the Gender Ministry indicated that to combat domestic violence, the Ministry this year through digitalization introduced a toll-free number thus 0800 – 111 – 222.
According to her, the Ministry received a call from 1,448 victims from March to June to address their plights.
Hon. Abena Dapaah added that the Ministry also introduced a ‘Boa Me’ Application to assist the victims.
She revealed that most of the violence reported to the Ministry are rape and defilement.
According to her, the Gender Ministry is in collaboration with Queen Mothers to curb teenage pregnancies.
