Graham Potter Reacts To Joao Felix Red Card

Graham Potter has lamented Joao Felix’s sending off in his Chelsea debut, calling it ‘another blow’ for the Blues.

Chelsea had drawn level thanks to a Kalidou Koulibaly goal at the start of the second half after Fulham had taken the lead through Willian in the first, before Felix saw red and Carlos Vinicius subsequently grabbed the winner for the home side – further adding pressure to under-fire manager Potter.

The result leaves the Blues in 10th place in the league having lost as many games as they’ve won in the Premier League this season (seven).

Speaking after the game to the club’s official website, Potter discussed the Felix red card: “It was a reaction from the side and it was a forward’s tackle. There was no malice. I understand the sending off.

“It is another blow. I thought he was good, you could see his quality in the game so it’s double disappointment for us.”

The Chelsea manager also addressed the club’s recent, woeful, form, stating: “It’s tough. I feel for the supporters, players and everybody connected with the club. There were some positives there, a couple of decent chances for us.

“We will keep working, there is no other solution. We will stay together, stay focused and move on to the next match to try and get three points.”
