Gov’t To Distribute 280,000 Laptops To Teachers – Nana Addo
President Akufo Addo has announced in his State Of The Nations Address that he will help teachers live a better life in his second term.
Addressing the house, he stated that he will provide teachers with laptops across the country this is limited to the members of the various teacher unions including GNAT, NAGRAT, etc. “I’m happy to announce that gov’t is facilitating the acquisition of 280,000 laptops for members of GNAT, NAGRAT, and Coalition of Concerned Teachers Ghana this year “, he said.
The NPP has over the years tried to make the teaching job lucrative. In 2020, the Minister for Education, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh announced that his government is introducing a Professional Teacher Allowance (PTA) of GH¢1,200 per year for professional teachers and GH¢600 per year for non-professional teachers to deepen their commitment and spur professional growth.
The minister said with teachers at the centre of the education system, the government was motivated to initiate several reforms in the education space.
Such initiatives focused on positioning teachers to acquire the right set of skills to deliver quality learning outcomes for pupils and students.
