Gov’t To Construct Module SHS Facilities In Zongo Communities- Bawumia Hints

Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia has hinted that, President Akufo-Addo in his second term would establish ultramodern Senior High School facilities in the Zongo communities but not mortuaries which is part of the NDC’s People’s Manifesto promises..

He said that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is embarking on policies aimed at ensuring that the development of Zongo communities is high on its agenda.

Addressing the people of the Zongo community at Asokore Ashanti, monitored by Wontumionline.com, the Vice President said that since independence, the Zongo communities have been neglected.
The Veep said that, the perception by a section of Ghanaians that the NPP has a hatred for the Zongo communities has been found to be a hoax as evidenced by the creation of the Zongo and Inner City Development Ministry as well as the establishment of the Zongo Development Fund..”

According to Dr. Bawumia the free SHS policy was introduced to help the vulnerable in all Ghanaian communities including the Zongos.

“NDC was against the introduction of the free SHS but we have done it despite their pessimism.” Bawumia mocked.

He said that, the NPP government is not pursuing “sugar and salt politics” but has an agenda of a long term development of the country through massive expansion of the economy in all the sectors.

Malam for Asokore Zongo, Nuru Gariba commended Dr. Alhaji Bawumia for the massive support he has extended to the Zongos.

He said that, they are grateful to him for the donation of 1000 bags of cement and ¢200,000 cash for the development of the Tygyania SHS.

Malam Gariba said that there are plans to put up a Mosque in the area and appealed to the Vice President for financial support.

“We trust that you would fulfill the promise you would make to this effect because we can vouch for your kindness.” He said

Malama Gariba further appealed to Dr. Bawumia to use his influence in ensuring the early completion of the bridge that links the Tygyania community as well as the creation of job opportunities for the youth in the area.”
