Govt. Renews Assurance To Give Late Rawlings Befitting Burial As It Awaits Funeral Date From Chief Mourners
The government has asked the Awadada of Anlo and the Agbotui family of JerryJohn Rawlings to resolve all outstanding matters in planning the funeral of the late President.
According to a statement from the office of the President and signed by the chief of staff, Madam Akosua Frema Osei-Opare , this will pave the way for the necessary action to be taken as soon as possible.
The planning of the funeral of the late Flt Lt. Rawlings has generated some controversy following an earlier announcement that December 23 had been scheduled for the funeral. But this arrangement was quickly dismissed by the Awadada of the Anlo State and Agbotui and allied families.

The statement further assured the public that the President believes that “the obligation of the government to accord the former President a befitting state burial is inviolable and that at the appropriate time this should happen.”
It concludes that , “The President would be grateful if the families of the late President could resolve all outstanding matters and convey to the office of the President, an agreed date for his burial.”
