A political and trend analyst Nana Oteatuoso Kokobeng II, has blessed the leader of the New Patriotic Party’s caucus in Parliament, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu for his recent statements on how the party should select their next flagbearer.
The majority leader has suggested that it will be unwise on the part of the NPP to present another ‘Akan’ after the tenure of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Reacting to his suggestion on the Wontumi Morning Show, Nana Oteatuoso Kokobeng II noted that the statements from the leader was refreshing and added that the late Lawyer Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie made a similar declaration just as has been said by Mensah Bonsu.
“God bless him (Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu) for making such a bold statement. He hasn’t insulted anybody. Sir John also said the same thing before he passed on”, he quipped.
In a related development, Nana Oteatuoso Kokobeng II noted that Vice President Bawumia’s appeal has broken barriers and his is widely regarded by Ghanaians to rule after President Akufo-Addo.
“Bawumia is coming for Ghanaians and not the New Patriotic Party (NPP). NPP can wait but we Ghanaians are ready for him”, Nana Oteatuoso Kokobeng II boldly said on the show.
Addressing some concerns raised by some members of the NPP that it is too early to look for a successor for President Akufo-Addo, Nana Oteatuoso Kokobeng II explained that the party can’t wait for the last hour to start marketing a formidable candidate to lead the party into the next elections.
He was quick to add that doing so wouldn’t put a brake on the wonderful work the Akufo-Addo led government is doing of which Vice President Bawumia plays an integral role.
