Ghanaian Children From 0-15 Years To Secure Ghana Card
The National Identification Authority (NIA) has disclosed that, Ghanaian children from zero to fifteen years will soon get Ghana card.
Disclosing this on Wontumi Radio/TV, Dr. Hassan Adams, special aid to the Chief Executive Officer of the NIA said, the outfit registered Ghanaians from 15 years and above in the first phase of the exercise.
“18 million Ghanaians were targeted for the first phase of the registration and we exceeded our target,” he told Nana Konadu Abu Prah
He said, 15,000,581 Ghanaians have registered for the Ghana Card under President Akufo-Addo’s administration.
“We have printed 15,562,483 cards and issued 13,946,371 cards,”he said.
Dr. Adams indicated that, the NDC registered Ghanaians with a 2D card, but NPP is registering with dual interface card.
“In NDC regime, the card’s storage capacity was 2 kilobyte and NPP own is 128 kilobyte.
Dr. Adams said that, the cards that were registered during the NDC era are not active but if a person has the card he has to send to the registration centers to register for a new one.
He noted that, NIA will soon open District and Regional offices for those who have not registered for the Ghana Card to get a copy.
