The Member of Parliament for Assin Central and flagbearer hopeful for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Agyapong, has shockingly reveled how each Member of Parliament of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) paid to sponsor the Assin North by-election that emerged them victory.
According to Kennedy Agyapong, the NPP was very shocked on the election day for seeing the crying opposition NDC engaged in vote buying by distributing money, wellington boots, sewing machines, hair dryers, fertilizers and other items to Assin North residents to vote for the NDC.
Speaking on “State Of Ghana”, a weekend political show on Wontumi Radio/TV with Oheneba Nana Aseidu, He said the Member of Parliament for Odododiodioo Nii Lantey Vanderpuye reveled to him each NDC MP paid GH5,000 cedes each. He added they used their MPs common fund as grant to borrow items to share in Assin North.
“Every NDC MP paid GH5,000 contribution to go to Assin North, they also used common fund to borrow items. In fact we were shocked that opposition can share items the government in power couldn’t”
Kennedy Agyapong insisted that the NDC did a good campaign but all attributing to what they shared to the people of Assin North North, adding that Ghana would’ve collapsed if was the NPP.
“They shared GH100 cedes a night before the election day and gave another GH100 cedes after voting; Ghana would’ve been on fire if NPP challenged the NDC with their deity campaign” He lamented.
