Ghana Safer Than South- Africa-  South Africa Based Ghanaian Lecturer

A senior Ghanaian Lecturer based in Johannesburg in South Africa, Dr. George Tweneboah, has said that Ghana is a safer place to live when compared to South- Africa.

He said a person cannot walk freely in South- Africa without being attacked.

He revealed on Wontumi Radio/TV Morning Show on Monday that there are some places a person cannot take his phone along.

Dr. Tweneboah indicated that, “when you are being attacked, no one will save you.”

“In terms of comfortable living, Ghana is safer than South-Africa,” Mr. said.

Ghana Ranked Second Most Peaceful Country In Sub-Saharan Africa

Global Peace Index(GPI) earlier this week in its latest ranking, ranked Ghana as the second most peaceful country in the Sub-Saharan Africa Region only behind Mauritius.

The country’s overall score was 1.715 which placed it as 38th most peaceful country on the global ranking of 163 countries.

Completing the top five most peaceful African countries are Botswana, Sierra Leone and The Gambia in that order.

Ghana’s position meant the country had gone two steps up from last year’s global ranking of 40th. Per the 2021 global scores, Ghana is sandwiched between Lithuania and Costa Rica.

Incidentally, the report came out at a time Ghanaians are expressing grave concerns about rising insecurity following the murder of a bullion van police escort and a hawker in Jamestown plus a series of robbery incidents across the country.
