Ghana Mourns JJ Rawlings As Nana Addo Directs That Flags Should Fly At Half Mast
Following the reported death of former President ,Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings this afternoon the President NanaAddo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has declared seven days of national mourning.
The President has also directed that all national flags in the country should fly at half-mast for the next seven days starting from tomorrow, Friday, November 13.

In a related development, the President and his Vice Alhaji Dr. Mahammudu Bawumia have suspended their political campaigns during the period of national mourning in honour of the memory of the former President.
In the statement issued in Accra on Thursday and signed by the President himself, he assured the bereaved family that Government will work closely with the bereaved family towards, “ the arrangement for a fitting State Funeral for the late President, and will keep the nation informed accordingly,”
News about the death of the former President at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra was broke on the various news platforms this afternoon after what is said to be “a short illness.”
Some FM stations on hearing the sad news quickly suspended all running programmes to play funeral dirges as a tribute to the former Head of State who buried his mother about three weeks ago.
From Accra, reports say scores of mourners have rushed to the Ridge Residence of the former President to commiserate with the Rawlings family.
