Ghana Beyond Aid Calls For Attitudinal Change And A New Mindset Of Ghanaians- Sen. Minister Hints
Senior Minister, Hon. Yaw Osafo Marfo says the Ghana Beyond Aid initiative calls for attitudinal change and a new mindset that would enable Ghanaians serve the nation better.
According to him, the country cannot do that, without adequate training. Therefore education is critical in the context of the “Ghana Beyond Aid Agenda.”
“If we have problems in Ghana, it’s our mindset. People go to office late and close early.” He said at KNUST during a students engagement forum on the vision of Ghana Beyond Aid in Kumasi and monitored by Nana Owusu Achiaw.
He emphasized,” No country has developed on the back of ignorance.”
“Every country that has developed has trained their youth making it possible for them to develop on the back of training minds.” He said
According to the Senior Minister, “ With skills and trained minds, Ghana can one day become competitive on the global stage and be able to rub shoulders with the advanced countries.
The Senior Minister reemphasized that one particular policy that can rapidly propel the nation’s development is education.
He indicated that, it is a result of this that the single most important social intervention programme by the Nana Akufo-Addo’s government is the free SHS policy.
“Some years back, only a few people were entitled to scholarship to attend Senior High Schools based on merit. It wasn’t universal but now it’s for every Ghanaian child.” Mr. Osafo Maafo recalled.
Hon. Yaw Osafo Marfo stressed that government will continue to develop plans and policies to deal with the numerous applications from the youth and students who have qualified to continue their education.
According to him, the country cannot be developed ,”if we don’t lay emphasis on the Youuth, Science and Technology.”
