Ghana And IMF: The Negotiations So Far

Chief Executive Officer for Public Sector Reforms, Thomas Kusi Boafo has revealed where Ghana’s negotiation with the IMF for the economic bailout has reached so far.

According to Kusi Boafo, all the conditions for the loan deal have been completed.

“The Staff level agreement and the pre-conditions have been completed,” he told Oheneba Nana Asiedu on Wontumi TV Morning Show.

Kusi Boafo said the government has completed the discussion with China on the bilateral debts restructuring program.

He revealed that what is left is to move to the main condition that will trigger the release of the $3 billion loan.

The CEO of Public Sector Reforms said the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Ernest Addison and Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta have flown to the U.S. to discuss a critical condition that will catalyst the release of the loan.

He expressed the hope that there will be positive news by end of April 2023.
