Galamsey Fight Is A Shared Responsibility- GCTU Assistant Registrar
Assistant Registrar for Ghana Communication Technology University, Mr. George Akom has said that, the fight against illegal mining is a collective responsibility.
He said that, the MMDCEs and the MPs should be involved in the fight and not leave it to the government alone.
In an interview on Wontumi Radio and TV, he indicated that the government must not lose the measures put in place to combat the galamsey but rather reignite it.
Mr. Akom urged the the MMDCEs to make a by-law for the illegal mining to sanction the actors.
“The Chiefs should fight against galamsey for the benefit of the next generation,” he appealed.
The GCTU Assistant Registrar admonished Ghanaians not to politicize the fight against illegal mining.
“We should not politicize the fight against the illegal mining. If we do so the fight will be a canker,”
The District Chief Executive hopeful, urged that the lands and Natural Resources Minister must be supported in this campaign.
