“Four More For Nana” Slogan Given A Boost By A Four Goal Score-Line In NPP/NDC Friendly

A friendly football tournament match organized at Kyebi between NPP and the NDC supporters somewhere last year which produced a total of four goals has started to spark a belated wild jubilation among some NPP supporters.

The scores were 3-1 in favour of the NPP.

.
The NPP diehards who were ecstatic after hearing of the score line for the first time are full of hope that the total number of goals scored in that crucial encounter which amount to four is a good omen for the NPP.

“The score line is suggestive that, “the Four More For Nana’s slogan is divine orchestrated and that the four goals netted in that tournament foretold the outcome of the December elections.” One of the jubilant NPP supporters argued.

Another party supporter noted that the, “ dominant figure four” in the” Four more for Nana” slogan which has gained a wider currency is indeed a magic number and started to proclaim victory for his darling party.

The NPP supporters further argued the tally is suggestive that the “Four More For Nana’s” slogan has already killed the game for Nana Addo. “They were politically correct goals going in favour of the NPP.”

The group of hearty NPP pessimists who bared their thoughts were not at Kyebi to watch the NPP/NDC friendly encounter live. They were seated glued to their Television sets watching the Wednesday’s edition of the Election 2020 live political programme on Wontumi TV when the Abuakwa South Muncipal Chief Executive (MCE) made a recollection of that encounter which had long taken place to put into perspective the current peace prevailing at Kyebi.

The MCE Hon Kojo Ofori-Safo, who made the disclosure as a guest on Wontumi TV’s political programme Election 2020 hosted by Oheneba Nana Asiedu looked beyond the score line which was in favour of his party though, to derive his satisfaction.

“ I am happy about the prevailing peace in the Kyebi area which also manifest when the tournament was ongoing between the two known political opponents.” He said.

He continued, “ In restropect it was an incident-free encounter which was a clear indication that there was absolute peace in Abuakwa South at that time, a situation, which has persisted till now and gives hope that the December election will be peaceful. The fact has to be established that we live in total peace with our main opponents without any acrimony or ill feeling. That is what politics should be about. Politics is all about ideas.”He noted.

He said the Municipality bears no grudge against the NDC as a party and any of its members and that the recent verbal attack on the reputation of the youth of Akyem by some persons within the NDC who used derogatory terms such as “Sakawa” to describe some Akyem citizens have been nibbed in the bud.

“We have put everything behind us after all our dominance is beyond doubt. Our membership far exceeds theirs so what is essential is for us to look forward to and to focus more on is how we can increase our votes margin by exceeding the figures we chalked in the last elections.”

The MCE also disclosed that the basic school children who have been at home because oftheCOVID-19 are being kept busy by a special radio education programme which has been introduced so they will not be indolent while staying at home.

“We have an arrangement with Deep Reach Community Radio by which teachers organize classes using the studio as the classroom to teach school children. He explained.

He continued that, “The teachers operate from the studios and reach out to the children with their lessons. It has been working wonderfully and the school children like it.”

According to Hon Ofori-Safo the number of school children staying at home has recently been reduced because some of them have returned to school, but this has not affected the Deep Reach Community teaching programme. “It’s still being run efficiently.”

The MCE noted that even though a lot has been done in the area of providing infrastructure for schools in the Abuakwa South area, there is still the need for expansion.

“We need more infrastructures to be able to accommodate as many students as possible.” He said.

Meanwhile, a dormitory and a 12-unit classroom blocks have been built for the Abuakwa State Senior High School (ABUSCO) and also at the Kyebi Technical School (KITECH) which has also been provided with a 6-unit classroom block.

All basic schools in major towns in the Municipality including, Asiakwa, Apedwa, Maase, Asafo and Odumase have benefitted from the government’s schools infrastructures development programme either in the form of expanding existing structures or providing new ones targeted at classroom blocks, teachers quarters, dormitories, and places of convenience.

According to Hon Ofori –Safo, a multipurpose auditorium has been built at the College of Education at Kyebi. In addition, a library block in honour of one of Ghana’s founding fathers and the doyen of Ghana’s democracy, Dr J.B. Dankwa, has been constructed.

On roads, the MCE said the network in some of the major town are being resurfaced with asphalt. The include Apedwa, Kyebi, Apoosi, Tuwohofo, Aniabena and Potroase
He said the Bunso –Apedwa corridor is being improved with asphalt overlay.

The MCE provided signs and data to give a clear indication that, there have been an unprecedented execution of economic projects in the Abuakwa South Municipality.

The construction of the Administration Block for the Abuakwa Municipal Assembly is a shining example together with the Asafo and Apedwa Council offices.

With respect to markets, Hon Ofori-Safo said 12 unit lockable stores at Asiakwa have been constructed while the rehabilitation of the Nkronso market is ongoing. The provision of 19 lockable stores at Apedwa is on also captured on the list.

“Abuakwa South residents are now endowed with a One District One Factory plant located at Ntronso. It is to boost the cultivation of avocado and its processing.” He continued.

On health, the MCE said apart from providing a CHPS compound at Akooko, and the construction of community clinic at Odumase, The Kyebi Government Hospital is currently being given a face lift.

Hon Ofori -Safo, an active sportsman, displayed visible signs of contentment when he showed a slide of a picturesque Astro turf facility at Kyebi to the admiration of viewers.

It formed part of what is likely to be adjudged one of the numerous signature achievements of the NPP’s administration under Nana Akufo Addo, some of which were admiringly flashed on the screens of Wontumi TV.

Hon. Ofori-Safo received an applause with chants of,” Four Moore For Nana!” from some of the station’s audience after his presentation.
