Focusing On Uncompleted Projects Have Slowed Down The Development Of Mamprugu Moagduri – DCE Laments

Chief Executive of Mamprugu Moagduri District in the North East Region, Hon. Abu Adam, has bemoaned that, the current NDC MP Hon Abdallah Abdul Rauf Tanko, who took over from NPP parliamentarian in the 2016 elections left behind so many unfinished projects started by his predecessor which he came to inherit.

“The backlog of unfinished projects started by the NPP but abandoned by the NDC posed a big challenge when I took over, but Insha Allah, those unfinished projects have all been completed.” He explained.

He said that, the NPP Parliamentary Candidate, Hon. Yussuf Mustapha ,won the seat for the party in 2012 and did a lot for the area. However. as soon as the NDC MP took over in 2016 all the unfinished projects were abandoned to the detriment of the development of the area..

“Hon. Mustapha was a caring MP. He had the District genuinely at heart unlike the NDC MP who only came to eexploit the people’s ignorance.” He noted

Speaking on Election 2020 which was aired simultaneously on Wontumi Radio and TV on Friday, Hon. Adam disclosed that, what made the NPP Parliamentary candidate lose the seat to that of the NDC was that, his opponent was the Hajj Board Chairman and also a contractor so he was given the contract to fix most of the township’s deplorable roads thus, endearing him to the people

“He said as the Board Chairman, Hon Rauf Tanko managed used his position to arrange for a lot of people including some chiefs and their relations to go on the Hajj. Going to Mecca is a privileged only a few can afford so he had a lot of goodwill from most influential people in the Mamprugu area.” Noted the DCE.

He said when the MP who is a very good friend of John Mahama was seen trying to fix the major deplorable roads in the District the impression was created that he was using his own money to fix the bad roads. This also affected the chances of his NPP opponent who was disadvantaged..” He told Oheneba Nana Asiedu, host of the programme.

“The electorate who bought into his schemes thought he was a philanthropist and eventually had to pay him back by voting overwhelmingly for him. That is why Abdul Rauf had it so easy to win the seat for the NDC in2016 but the tables have turned and come December, he would be shown the exit.” He said.

According to Hon. Adam, the people of Mamprugu Moagduri usually exercise their franchise based on Infrastructural projects . He is therefore convinced that per the enormous achievements of the NPP in the area the seat will come back home.
“Our impressive achievements are there for all to see so it is obvious that we have a good chance to re-take the seat which lost to the NDC in the 2016 elections.” He said.
