Farming Is More Lucrative Than Politics – Pangabu Slams His NDC Accusers
A prominent Member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Issifu Mohammed Pangabu, who has in recent times become an object of verbal attacks by his colleague party members for hailing the NPP’s Planting For Food And Jobs (PFJ) has shot back at his accuser.
Mr Pangarbu , a former MP for Ejura- Sekyedumasi has fully embraced the NPP’s PFJ initiative by going into serious maize farming and says “farming is more financially rewarding than politics and commended the NPP for introducing its flagship programme.”
But sadly, speaking good about the PFJ has incurred the wrath of his party colleagues some of who think Mr. Pangabu is in bed with the NPP
But Pangabu who was speaking in an interview with wontumionline.com rubbished any such claims that he has crossed carpet to join the NDC’s main political opponents.
“My maize farm has made me a wealthy person. Now I can even paying 10 MP for one continuous year from the proceeds of my farm. Farming is more lucrative than being in parliament so my colleagues who are interested can join me.”
Mr Pangabu who is encouraging the teeming Ghanaian jobless youth to seek for land and go into serious farming said it will provide them with “the shortest route to be financially independent.”
“My advice to Ghanaian youth is that going into farming is the best thing they can do to free themselves of poverty. Because the returns are good.” He emphasized
According to Mr Pangabu he finds nothing wrong with hailing the highly successful PFJ and considers his colleagues rebuke as out of ignorance because he knows how beneficial it has been to him.
“ I couldn’t have done otherwise because I have greatly benefited from it. I’m not endorsing the PFJ in a vacuum. I have gone into farming and I can testify, I have the basis. It is said that you will know the truth and the truth shall set you free.” He sermonized
Mr.Pangabu is said to have gone bankrupt after investing all his assets to win back the Ejura Parliamentary seat but it became a fruitless enterprise.. He benefitted from the free supply of inputs and other incentives from the Ministry of Agriculture under the PFJ to bounce back by becoming wealthier than before..
The former Ejura-Sekyedumasi MP now operates a 600-acre maize farm at Ejura with about 500 farm-hands to assist him.
