Family At Asabi Cries For Help…As Home Faces Imminent Collapse From Water Diversion.

The family of Elizabeth Mansu is calling on the Works and Housing Minister, Francis Asenso Boakye and the MCE for Asokore-Mampong, Kennedy Kwasi Kankam to come to their aid to halt the collapse of their building at Asabi Plot 13 Block ‘A’.

Narrating with tears on phone to this reporter, Madam Mansu, who is bedridden from a recent vehicle accident, said the volume of water that passes through her home anytime it rains makes a disaster imminent in her house.

She disclosed that 10 of her family members were caught in similar floods exactly 4 years ago, an occurrence which resulted in the death of 5 of her relatives.

With sobs, the 43 year old lady noted that her home is suffering from a diversion occasioned by a nearby landlord who has sealed off the original water route and re-directed it to her home.

NEGLIGENCE:
Madam Mansu said she had made several reports to authorities at the Asokore- Mampong Municipal Assembly but added she had not received much assistance.

She disclosed that after visiting the Assembly about a year ago, some officials from the National Disaster Management Authority (NADMO) came around to take a look at her home and to inspect the erosion taking place on the route.

However, she noted that nothing came out of the inspection including a visit by the assembly member of the area.

Madam Mansu also disclosed that the Asokore Mampong traditional authorities know about the situation in her area and home but appear helpless.

APPEAL:
Madam Mansu appealed to the Works and Housing Minister for urgent attention to forestall any emergency in her home.

She asked the Minister to take into consideration her current state and speedily come to her aid since the home was the only place she has now for shelter.

She also asked the new MCE to visit the area in Asabi and check for himself the seriousness of the matter.
