Former chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Upper Denkyera West constituency in the central region, Mr. Daniel Appianin has said that factors that transpired to the defeat of the NPP in the Assin North by-election cannot be measured to 2024 general election.
He said it’ll be a mistake to conclude that the NPP can’t win the Assin North seat in 2024, adding that, the Assin North by-election cannot be used to project what will transpire in the 2024 general elections for both parties.
Speaking on Wontumi Privilege Morning show, hosted by Oheneba Nana Aseidu on friday, June 30, Mr. Appianin stated that the NPP went into the by-election to fight for a seat belonging to the opposition with a new candidate as compared to the NDC with an old face for sympathy reasons.
” NPP have opportunity to correct it mistakes, restructure and a grounds for only the constituency executives as compared to the by-election where all the big-wings trooped to Assin North to campaign” this according to him will be the difference in 2024.
He advised the party to undergo a careful study of the outcome of the results before any decision is made on the candidate and other factors that attributed to the defeat, adding that it’s a test to the party to restructure for power.
