Wontumionline.com has fact checked a video purporting to claim the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako has endorsed the candidature of John Dramani Mahama.
After reviewing the video in its entirety, it was established that the video used by outlets affiliated to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is false and never did Chairman Wontumi call on Ghanaians to vote for John Mahama as President.
During the entire interview on Kessben TV’s Maakye show hosted by Kwabena Owusu Dankwah, Chairman Wontumi made emphatic statements for voters to reject John Mahama because he was corrupt and visionless.
He used majority of his time on the show to talk about the need for voters to have confidence in Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and vote for him as President.
The exact statement from Chairman Wontumi
“Joshua Alabi who is John Mahama’s own Campaign Manager once asked NDC members if they prefer someone who can rule Ghana for 8 or 4 years and they responded that they want a candidate who can rule for 8 years”.
“John Mahama himself has said that 4 years isn’t enough to develop the country. Let us give our vote to Dr. Mahamudu Bauwmia.”
John Mahama is also from northern region so voting for Bawumia means that under this 4th republic, they (Northern region) have produced two presidents. So our friends from the north should support Bawumia just like Ashantis have been doing.”
