Instead of focusing on the work at hand, Daniel Domelevo reveled in the media hype he was enjoying from paid media men, Nana Obiri Boahen has said.
The deputy General Secretary for the New Patriotic Party in an interview on the State of Ghana show on Wontumi TV, stated that even if Domelevo decides to buy “yoo k3 gari”, the media would hype as if he has done something remarkable when indeed, he was sleeping on the job.
Nana Obiri Boahen’s comment stems from the recent commendation from President Akufo-Addo to the acting Auditor-General, Mr. Johnson Akuamoah Asiedu for his work in the fight against corruption since his appointment.
The Audit Service Board has appointed Mr. Johnson Akuamoah Asiedu to succeed the former Auditor General Daniel Yao Domelevo as acting Auditor-General after the latter was asked by President Akufo-Addo to proceed on his 167-day accumulated leave.
Speaking at a meeting with members of the Ghana National Anti-Corruption Coalition at the Jubilee House, President Akufo-Addo said the recent revelations in the Auditor-General’s report indicate that he will be independent.
He thus mentioned that processes are underway to confirm him as the substantive Auditor General.
President Akufo-Addo further added that Mr. Johnson Akuamoah Asiedu in his short stay in office has been able to do things that the “most touted” Yao Domelevo couldn’t do.
Obiri Boahen contributed to this by stating that “look at the Acting Auditor-General and the report he has been able to prepare in his early days in office. It has never happened before but we never praise him. But when Domelevo was in office, even if he goes to buy yoo k3 gari, the media would make noise about it.”
