Euro 2020: Squads Officially Expanded To 26 Players
UEFA has officially announced the squads for Euro 2020 will be expanded from 23 to 26 players, with a registration deadline at June 1.
The upcoming European Championship starts on June 11 this summer and the squads must be registered 10 days prior to the competition.
UEFA has officially announced the squads can include 26 players for the upcoming championship and can only be amended up to the first match.
“Euro 2020 squads will feature up to 26 players,” UEFA wrote in an official statement. “Squad lists will be submitted on June 1, but teams will be able to make unlimited replacements in case of serious injury or illness before the first match.
“Goalkeepers can be replaced ahead of each match.”
The serious injury and illness also includes the hypothesis of positivity to COVID-19, as well as that of a player in close contact with someone testing positive.
Italy’s players are being vaccinated ahead of the tournament, as the FIGC President Gabriele Gravina confirmed yesterday.
