
Former Subin Member of Parliament(MP) and aspiring General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) Eugene Boakye Antwi, has said the NPP needs a change in its national leadership tagging himself as the perfect candidate to be that change.
While addressing supporters after he filed his nomination at the party’s headquarters in Asylum Down, the former MP said he had conferred with the elders of the party and the party’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on his intention to contest and has received their blessings.
According to him, one of the things which party people and other executives kept telling him on the grounds was the issue of discipline. He said, people saw in him a man who could instill discipline in the party.
“Party people and executives kept reminding me when I visited them in their communities that they see me as a man who will come and instil discipline in our party, ensure accountability, and be honest with party executives and the leadership of the party,” he said.
The General Secretary aspirant talked about the party’s current strength in national executives positioning it as weak in nature.
He said the hierarchy needs a new touch. A touch of experience to help steer affairs for their 2028 fortunes.
“Our party is in dire need of some experienced hands at the national level to make sure that we match the National Democratic Congress, our main political opponents boot for boot in the upcoming election,” he added.
