Endorse ‘Aluta’ As MCE For Juaben- Ama Pomaa Appeals
The Member of Parliament for Juaben and Deputy Minister for Communications and Digitalisation, Hon Ama Pomaa Boateng has appealed to Assembly members at Juaben to confirm the MCE nominee for the area, Alexander Safo Kantanka.
The MP in a passionate tone at the conference hall of Jofel Catering Restaurant begged the Assembly members to close their ranks and vote to endorse the President’s nominee for the Municipality.
According to the MP, the confirmation of the nominee would enable the Assembly to commence serious government business in the famous Ashanti town.
Hon Pomaa said, “as humans each would have a flaw either in speech or action but that should not stop us from forgiving ourselves when the offending person realises his or her mistake”.
BACKGROUND:
The Juaben Municipal Assembly rejected the President’s nominee for MCE, Alexander Safo Kantanka in the first round of voting.
Getting 6 votes from a possible of 26, the nominee popularly called “Aluta” failed to secure the mandate for even a second round of voting.
However, the President in the middle of this month renominated the “rejected” candidate again needing another confirmation process.
Today’s conference was to involve the MP and the assembly members of Juaben in a meeting with the nominee in a bid to thrash out all lingering issues for a possible fresh elections at a date yet to be determined.
ASSURANCES:
Mohammed Galo, assembly member for Noboam Electoral Area speaking on behalf of his colleagues assured of a smooth process at their next meeting.
He noted that the differences they had with nominee had been openly discussed with both making concessions after deliberations in the presence of the MP.
This, he said gives an indication that the next meeting of the assembly might produce the next MCE for Juaben.
He commended his colleagues for attending the meeting and resolving to make peace by forgetting every hurt they may have inside them.
MCE NOMINEE:
Mr Alex Safo Kantanka thanked the MP, Hon Pomaa for cutting off her busy schedule to attend the emergency meeting in Kumasi.
This, he noted shows that all stakeholders want the progress of Juaben, having met traditional authorities and the Ashanti Regional NPP executives previously.
He pledged to unify the assembly after his endorsement so that together they could chart a development path for Juaben.
The nominee thanked the President for renominating him and promised to work for the development and progress of Juaben.
