Elmina: MTN Cell Site Cable Thief Caught And Bundled
A notorious cable thief has been captured at Pershie a suburb of Elmina in the Central Region when he attempted to steal cables belonging to MTN at their cell site.
The suspect who only gave his name as Joe is noted to be a serial cable thief who has been stealing from various MTN cell sites within Elmina and other areas.
He is even reported to have cut cables belonging to Pax Fm, a local radio station in Elmina some months ago.
Speaking with one of the residents who apprehended him, he said he heard a noise at the cell tower around 2am and decided to go and check what was happening.
To his surprise, he saw the suspect busily cutting the cables and when he questioned him he said he has been sent by MTN to come over and work on a fault.
Unconvinced with the answer given by the suspect, he started raising an alarm which prompted the thief to run away.
But around 5am , the suspect came back to pick up his tools and the cables he had already cut and this time round he was chased, caught and tied to the metal bars around the tower till daybreak before he was sent to the Elmina District police.
