Election 2020 : NDC To Lose Its Four Parliamentary Seats In C. Region To NPP – Asikuma MCE

The Chief Executive officer of Asikuma, Odoben Brakwa, Hon. Isaac Odam on Friday assured NPP supporters that the ruling party is in good standing to sweep all the remaining Parliamentary seats in the Central Region.

The NPP currently controls all the 23 Parliamentary seats in the Central Region expect four namely, Cape Coast South, Elimina, Agona East and Ajumako

But according to Hon. Odoom, the remaining seats are conquerable given the extent to which the ruling NPP has developed the Region.

Mr. Odoom who became the first MMDCE to feature on Wontumi TV and Radio’s flagship political programme, Election 2020 hosted by Oheneba Nana Asiedu, said every District in the Region has so far had its fair share of the siting of infrastructural projects in the first term of Nana Addo’s government  “even though there is till more work to be done.”

In terms of the expansion of educational infrastructure, roads, water and sanitation, youth employment, health among other social needs, “the government has achieved a lot.” the MCE said.

According to Hon. Odoom, “The Four More For Nana To Do More” slogan is echoing all over the Central Region  and this gives the appointees hope that, “we shall run over our opponents come the December elections.”

The Asikuma-Odobem-Brakwa which has been a traditional NPP stronghold  is the first District in the Central Region to showcase its achievementslive  on Wontumi TV/Radio.

Viewers who called into the programme were overwhelmed with the projects sited in the District and how the DCE, Hon. Odoom did his presentation.

 

Election 2016  Outcome In The Central Region

The NDC, prior to the 2016 general elections, had 16 parliamentary seats in the Central Region, while the then opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) had seven seats, but the party was only able to keep only four seats as against the NPP’s 19.

Another blow to the NDC in the 2016 parliamentary elections was the loss of two of its traditional seats, the Ekumfi and the Twifo-Atimokwa constituencies to the NPP.

In the presidential elections, the NDC had 43.4 percent of the total presidential votes in the Central Region in 2016, as against 52.1 percent in 2012.

The NPP secured 53.2 percent of votes cast in the region in 2016, increasing the 45.5 percent it had in 2012.
