Election 2020: Fomena MP To Lose His Membership Of The NPP

 

Member of Parliament (MP )for  Fomena, Hon.  Andrew Amoako Asiamah, risks losing his membership of the New Patriotic Party( NPP)  following reports of  his decision to contest his seat as an independent candidate.

Hon Amoako Asiamah was defeated in   the primaries to represent the NPP in the December elections..

In a memo signed by the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Party, Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako, the attention of Hon. Amoako  Asiamah , was drawn to  Article 97 (1)  (g) of the 1992 constitution which says that, “a Member of Parliament shall vacate his seat in Parliament if he leaves the party of which he was a member at the time his election to Parliament to join another party.”

In the memo sighted by Wontumionline.com, dated October 7, 2020, the Regional Executive Committee extended an invitation  to the Fomena MP for a meeting  by 12 O’clock today, Thursday October  8, 2020, at 12 noon  “to explain his actions to us in order for us to take  appropriate steps if necessary.”
