#FixTheCountry campaigner, Efia Odo has been heavily exposed for requesting dollars from the government of President Akufo-Addo in order to stop her campaigns of vilification against government.
The Bono regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Kwame Baffoe Abronye revealed that refusal on the part of the President to yield to the request of Efia Odo, led to her joining the #FixTheCountry campaign.
Delivering a monologue on Wontumi TV’s Nsempa Fie Show, Abronye fired Efia Odo for being an opportunist who left USA to settle in Ghana because she was getting free money from the government of former President John Mahama.
“When the NDC came to power, a certain guy who steals from Ghanaians bought a house for you and you are staying in it”, Abronye said.
He went on to question her stating that “did you make any meaningful living when you were staying in America? You are insulting President Akufo-Addo because you are not getting free dollars to spend like you used to.”
The actress and socialite together with other 10 members of the #FixTheCountry campaigners, were arrested by the police.
This was shortly after a court hearing the case on whether or not the group should be allowed to stage a street protest adjourned proceedings.
But Abronye responded to the issue by calling on the Ghana Police Service to allow Efia Odo to stage her intended demonstration and not to frustrate her.
According to him, even with the numbers the NDC has as a political party, it failed to get people on the street to terminate the process of compiling a new voters’ register when the Electoral Commission wanted to do it.
He therefore wondered and stated that if “such a thing (Efia Odo) wants to stage a demonstration, we must allow her. What demonstration can Efia Odo stage in Ghana?”
