Education Ministry Throws Out NDC Propaganda On Private SHS.

The Ministry of Education has rubbished claims by some persons parading the arena of social media that government plans of extending the free SHS program to cover private SHS.

The outfit also dismissed assertions that a meeting was held to discuss such extension moments after the NDC launched its manifesto on the 7th of September.

In a release copied to Wontumionline.com by the press secretary to the Education Minsiter, Rodney Nkrumah, the Ministry said government was focussed in delivering quality free SHS to the Ghanaian people.

It said the Ministry was committed to ensuring all avenues that will improve the programme are identified and pursued for the sustenance of same.

CLARIFICATIONS:
The statement said that on the 2nd and 3rd of September the Minister of Education received delegations from the Ghana National Council of Private Schools (GNCPS)  and Ghana National Association of Private Schools(GNAPS).

The discussion, the release noted centered on many issues including the Post COVID-19 challenges in the educational sector.

Issues such as the way forward to tackle the challenges, reopening of schools as well as private schools and livelihoods were also discussed.

Central at the meeting, the release continued was the sustenance of the free SHS program.

COMMITMENT:
The release stated that the Minister and the two delegations had a fruitful discussion.

The Minister, the statement reiterated pledged government’s commitment to continuing the Free SHS programme and improving same.

The Ministry therefore urged the public to disregard claims that are meant to misinform and deceive on the hinges of social media.
