Education Minister Reveals 21 Allowances Teachers Currently Enjoy

Ghana’s Education Minister, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh has disclosed some 21 allowances Ghanaian teachers benefit under the current Nana Akufo-Addo administration as part of its efforts to support teachers.

Speaking in an interview on Net2’s TV ‘the seat show’, monitored by Georgeweb.org, the Minister noted the Akufo-Addo government has one way or the other supported teachers, unlike the John Mahama government.

According to the Member of Parliament for Manhyia South NAPO, President Akufo-Addo has duly restored the majority of teachers allowances the opposition NDC government during their term of office cancelled.

Hon. Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh popularly known as NAPO listed the 21 allowances as below;

Vehicle maintenance allowance
Kilometric allowance
Night allowance
Allowance for teachers in deprived and difficult areas
Acting allowance
Retention premium
Protective clothing
Advance to purchase means of transport
Salary advance
Special advance
Transfer grant and permanent posting allowance
Rent advance
Advance for the purchase of durable household goods
Additional duty allowance
Allowance for directors
Continous professional allowance
Medical care
Death benefits
Traveling allowance
Physically challenge guide
Physically challenge transport
