DVLA Goes Digital, Fake License Now A Thing Of The Past- Prince Edusei

Deputy Chief Executive in- charge of operations at the Drivers and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) Prince Edusei , has disclosed that, there has been a reinforcement in the acquisition of vehicle license.

According to him, when the new management assumed office in 2017, the issuance of fake license was very rife. He said apart from the malpractice, the process of acquisition was also cumbersome

Speaking in an interview on Wontumi Radio/TV with Oheneba Nana Asiedu, on Wednesday , the Director in charge of operations at the DVLA stated that, the process is now smooth and in a twinkle of an eye one can now secure his driving license.

“The license acquisition process has now been revolutionized. There are too many security features on it to prevent duplication. Nobody can be defrauded again.” He stressed

Requirements for getting the license

According to Mr. Edusei, as a first step of obtaining the driver’s license one must attend a driving school to be trained in how to acquire the basic skill in driving;.

He said that, after passing the first test, the authority will take the applicant through a 48 hour practical and theoretical aptitude test.

Mr. Edusei indicated that, there would also be a test on road signs and driving in-traffic to be sure that the applicant has indeed comfortable with the handling of the steering wheel and also conversant with basic road signs.

He said that after all these different tests , the authority will then issue a temporary license to the applicant only after satisfying itself with the outcomes. The temporary license is valid for three months.

Mr. Edusei insisted that, of late it takes about two hours for one to get his or her new vehicle registered unlike previously, when it took not less than two day to go through the process.
