DRIP Credit Sparks Violence: NPP/NDC Supporters Exchange Blows In Oti Region (Vedio)

A violent clash broke out in the Oti Region on Monday, September 2, 2024, as supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC) exchanged blows over the District Road Improvement Project (DRIP) equipment.

According to eyewitnesses, the clash occurred in ‘Bonboden’ in the Krachi West Municipal of the Oti Region, where supporters of NPP/NDC meet to officially welcome the DRIP equipments.

Supporters of the NPP and NDC reportedly disagreed over who initiated the DRIP equipments. leading to a heated argument that quickly escalated into physical violence.

“It was a chaotic scene, people were throwing punches and chairs, and some were even wielding machetes. It was like a war zone.”

“Some of the NDC youth says the equipmets was funded by portion of the District Assemblies Common Fund so why should the NPP post there parliamentary candidate’s posters on them, that was where the whole issue started,” he added.

The DRIP project initiative is a government program aimed at improving roads roads in Ghana at the district level, boost their agricultural life. However, the project has been plagued by controversy, with some youth arguing about the funds of the initiative.
