A former deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Koku Anyidoho has emphatically stated that he won’t contribute a dime towards the campaign of former President John Mahama.
Mr. Anyidoho in an interview on the Wontumi Morning Show stated that Mr. Mahama’s appeal to Ghanaians to donate a minimum of 10 Ghana cedis each to help us fund the NDC’s congress, was wrong and borne out of “showmanship” from a “desperate” person.
“Why should the former president ask people for money? The NDC is not for one individual. It is the constitutional mandate of the finance committee of the NDC to perform this duty and not him. Why is one person trying to create the impression the NDC is for him? What is this showmanship?” Mr. Anyidoho quizzed.
Former President John Dramani Mahama has taken to social media to raise funds to support the National Democratic Congress’ upcoming National Delegates Congress slated for Saturday, December 17, 2022.
He made the appeal in a post on his Facebook page.
“I am inviting 500,000 willing Ghanaians, NDC supporters, sympathisers, and friends to donate a minimum of 10 Ghana Cedis each to help us fund the congress. You don’t have to be a member of the NDC to donate.
But the former NDC General Secretary rubbished the appeal stating that after the money has hit the account of Mr. Mahama he would not account to Ghanaians.
“Why are you doing this to the body and soul of the party?” he asked Mr. Mahama.
He stated that he would personally not contribute GHC10 towards the appeal by Mr. Mahama because “I don’t like what is going on.”
He explained that the late former President Rawlings and Atta-Mills both contributed massively towards the campaign of the NDC but never made a showmanship out of it.
