Lawyer Maurice Ampaw is cautioning former Attorney General and Minister of Justice of Ghana, Ayikoi Otoo to refrain from making public utterances that would make him become as “useless” as the epistles written by former Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu.
The caution to Ayikoi Otoo comes on the back of a statement from him that it will be good for the current Attorney-General to discontinue the criminal case against James Gyakye Quayson.
Nii Ayikoi Otto, a former Ghana High Commissioner to Canada in an interview on an Accra based radio station, stressed that it was politically prudent to enter a nolle prosequi in the case because the NPP needs to look at the wider public sentiment and how the people of Assin North will react to its continuation.
But reacting to the comment, lawyer Maurice Ampaw stated on Wontumi television that it is out of bitterness that Ayikoi Otoo was making his point.
“Tell Ayikoi Otoo that he has a problem. He is at home and complaining bitterly that this government hasn’t been given him a job. I think ‘gbeshie’ has come upon his life…he said Sir John had ‘gbeshie’, he also has the same thing”, lawyer Ampaw said
Ayikoi Otoo, has said in discontinuing the criminal case against James Gyakye Quayson, the Attorney-General on his own volition does not have the capacity to take the decision except if Cabinet so agrees.
Lawyer Ampaw rubbished the cabinet link Ayikoi Otoo was attaching to the case stating that “he is saying that the A-G can’t do it unless cabinet. Your own party look at what you are saying and turning the matter into a cabinet issue…why should you do this damage to your own party? Tell him that if he has nothing doing, it is better he travels outside the country. Look at Martin Amidu, he has nothing doing so he is writing useless letters”.
He also fired former A-G, Marietta Brew to stay focused and stop insulting the current A-G Godfred Dame over the criminal case against James Gyakye Quayson.
