The Ashanti Regional Chairman has added his voice to calls on former First Lady Lordina Mahama to return to the state, any moneys paid to her as allowance from 2009 to date.
The former First Lady has come under severe attack for being mute on whether she is prepared to refund to the state all ‘illegal’ allowance paid to her just like current First and Second Ladies have done.
In an interview with Wontumionline.com, the NPP Chairman popularly known as Chairman Wontumi explained that he doesn’t expect “Lordina Mahama to be a thief by trying to be smart and keeping in moneys which doesn’t belong to her”.
Chairman Wontumi called on her to emulate First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo and Second Lady Samira Bawumia for having the confidence to reject a recommendations by the Ntiamoa-Baidu Committee which was approved by Parliament to put them on a monthly remuneration.
“I hope Lordina Mahama won’t be like her husband. Just return the money and have your peace. Don’t try to be silly else you will make it clear the thievery in your husband has entered you”, Chairman Wontumi said.
The First Lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo has fulfilled her pledge to return all allowances paid her from 7th January 2017 to date.
In a statement issued by the Chief Of Staff, it said the Consolidated Bank of Ghana Limited has a received an amount of Ghc 899,097.84 being the full refund of the allowances.
