Dombo, UP Tradition Doesn’t Support ‘Aduro Me So’- Spokesperson For Vice President

The spokesperson for vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr. Gideon Boako, has said true sons of Dombo who believe in the UP tradition; don’t believe in the ‘Aduro Me So’ mantra as preached by the camp of Hon. Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten.

In a one-on-one interview on the Wontumi Morning Show, Dr. Gideon Boako stated that in the past, Alan Kyeremanten has constantly contested President Akufo-Addo for the position of flagbearer without considering stepping aside for him (Akufo-Addo) to run unopposed.

He therefore explained that it is wrong for the camp of Alan Kyeremanten to latch on the ‘Aduro Me So’ campaign when such statements and believes are alien to members of the UP tradition.

“He contested Akufo-Addo but in the end, he was unable to garner simple 20%. Why then is it that we have a lot of people contesting for a position and someone is preaching ‘Aduro Me So’? We were not raised like this as children of Dombo; we weren’t natured like this in UP. We must visit the polls and vote and allow the majority to settle on the candidate they want”, he said.

He continued that “NPP never said Akufo-Addo contested 1998 and placed second; he contested 2007 and won so in 2010 he should be left off the hook and made to run unopposed. Those who are calling for ‘Aduro Me So’ now never agreed then for him to go unopposed. They even went to contest him when majority of the party members believed that Akufo-Addo’s popularity had soared and he beat them with over 95%.”

“In 2014, Akufo-Addo had contested in 1998, 2007, 2010 so the party members were clamouring for him to go unopposed so that he can save funds. As at that time it was evident that whoever wanted to contest him would lose but our brothers saying ‘Aduro Me So’ never agreed for that to happen”, he added.
