Deputy Finance Minister Clears Air On MoMo Tax Brouhaha

The Deputy Minister of Finance, Hon. John Kumah has cleared the air on the brouhaha surrounding the Mobile Money tax.

According to Hon. John Kumah the government researched by interacting with about 10,000 Ghanaians who use MoMo and noticed that about 40% of the people don’t send money above Ghc100.

In an interview with Oheneba Nana Asiedu, he indicated that “if you are sending Ghc 200 to somebody, the first Ghc100 will be tax free but you will be taxed on the second Ghc100.”

The Ejisu Constituency MP emphasized that there would be no charge for loading money into your MoMo wallet.

Lawyer John Kumah unearthed that, the Finance Ministry is doing regulations on the proposed flat rate by the public.
