Democratic Union of Africa Salutes Trump, Projects NPP’s Win

The Democratic Union of Africa (DUA) has congratulated the Republican Party in the United States of America and President-elect, Donald J. Trump for winning the 2024 US presidential election.

In a statement signed by Rafael Massanga Savimbi, the deputy chairman of the Democrat Union of Africa, the Union said it is its sincere hope that its member party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Ghana, will also emerge victorious just like the Republican Party in the US in the upcoming 7 December 2024 elections in Ghana.

“On behalf of the Democrat Union of Africa, I extend our heartfelt congratulations to the Republican Party on the historic victory in the United States Elections, resulting in the election of the 47th President, Donald J. Trump.

“This achievement is a testament to the enduring strength of the values that unite us as members of the International Democrat Union – values of freedom, democracy, free markets, and respect for human rights.

“As we are both members of the International Democracy Union, we are immensely proud of the Republican Party’s success and are confident that this victory will strengthen the mission of advancing these ideals, not only in America but worldwide.

“In December, our member party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of Ghana, will similarly face a crucial and fiercely contested election. Inspired by the Republican Party’s triumph, we hope the NPP will emerge victorious, carrying forward our shared commitment to these principles on the African continent,” Rafael Massanga Savimbi’s statement read.

Donald Trump and the Republican Party made a sweeping comeback to the US presidency after losing the 2020 presidential election to President Joe Biden and the Democrats.

Mr Trump defeated Kamala Harris, the serving Vice President of the United States.

NPP congratulates Trump

Meanwhile, the NPP has officially congratulated its counterpart, the Republican Party, and President-Elect Donald Trump on his victory in the 2024 US elections.

The NPP, sharing a long-standing close relationship with the Republican Party, applauded the American people for endorsing the Republican Party’s vision and ideals.

A statement issued by NPP’s General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong said this milestone marks a significant achievement in America’s democratic history, showcasing the country’s commitment to peaceful transitions of power.

He said Ghana, preparing for its own elections on December 7, 2024, draws inspiration from America’s exemplary democratic process.

As members of the International Democratic Union (IDU), a global alliance of centre-right political parties, the NPP and Republican Party share commonalities in their elephant symbol, political orientation, and ideology.

The NPP is optimistic that centre-right philosophies, gaining traction worldwide, will propel Ghana’s “elephant party” to victory in the upcoming polls.

According to Justin Kodua Frimpong, both President Trump and Ghana’s Vice President, Dr. Bawumia, share bold solutions for their respective nations.

However, the NPP wished the Trump administration success and looks forward to strengthening ties between the two parties and nations for mutual benefits.
